Prayer Labyrinth

A labyrinth is a path which leads to the center of an intricate design and back out again. Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has only one path, and it is impossible to get lost. A prayer labyrinth is used to facilitate prayer, meditation, and spiritual transformation. The most famous prayer labyrinths today include an ancient one in the cathedral of Chartres, France, and two at Grace Episcopal Cathedral in San Francisco.

Some of the many ways to pray with a labyrinth:

  • Ask God a quetsion as you enter the path, and let your steps invite God’s guidance.
  • Start your journey to the center with a confession, and visualize your sins being forgiven and left behind with every step.
  • Recite a “breath prayer” as you navigate the labyrinth, like “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner” or “Here I am, Lord.”
  • Lay down your burdens as you walk, releasing your heavy load step by step.

You can find All Saint’s labyrinth to the west of the church.
