Grateful Threads is a nonprofit organization with the purpose of using our skills as crafters to make quality goods that can be used by others that need them. We make bags for Magdelene House, hats for the Salvation Army Night Watch Program, prayer shawls, hats and Scarves for the DUET residents, car blankets and baby blankets for the Pantry on Blondo, sleeping mats made of plarn (plastic bags made into strips and crocheted) for the homeless. Some recipients of prayer shawls have been chemotherapy patients. We meet in the All Saints library on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 1-3pm. Our greatest joy is seeing that someone who needs these items gets them. We also get great pleasure from our fellowship during the process. Our members are sewists, quilters, knitters, crocheters, and some who tie knots in the blankets. Mostly we enjoy doing for others.
We have no officers, just members who love to share. We are supported by anyone who will donate cloth, thread, and yarn to complete our projects. If you are interested in being part of this group, contact samala.brown@gmail.com.
