First Communion
In the Episcopal tradition, Baptism is a full entry into the community of Christ’s followers, and all baptized persons may receive communion. Many families, however, wish for their children to have further instruction in the Holy Eucharist (Communion) before their child receives communion.
Our First Communion class, which offers instruction on the theology and practice of communion, is held each spring before the Bishop’s visit. It is open to all children, whether they have already been receiving communion or not. Contact us for more details.
Confirmation
Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop” (BCP, p. 860).
Those who were baptized at an early age and those baptized as adults without laying on of hands by a bishop are expected to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism, and receive laying on of hands by a bishop (BCP, p. 412).
The Prayer Book rite for Confirmation also includes forms for Reception and the Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows. Those who have already made a mature Christian commitment in the Roman Catholic or Orthodox denominations are recognized as already confirmed by a Bishop and are received into the fellowship of the Episcopal Church. Anyone who has experienced a renewal of faith or desire to renew their Christian commitment may reaffirm their baptismal vows.
Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation are rooted in the baptismal covenant. The candidates reaffirm their renunciation of evil and renew their commitment to Jesus Christ. They reaffirm the promises made by them or for them at the time of baptism. All those present in the congregation promise to do all in their power to support the candidates in their life in Christ. The bishop leads the whole congregation in renewing the baptismal covenant.
Confirmation, Reception, and Reaffirmation class is offered each year for both youth and adults. Learn more.

Annual Education Programs
Education for Ministry
This is a four-year ministry foundation and theological program for lay people. Participants meet once a week during the school year and are led by trained mentors. Participants form a tight-knit community while they study the Bible, church history, and theology, engaging together in reflection of the learning.
Sacred Ground
This 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum focused on indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories. It is focused on the challenges that swirl around issues of race and racism, and the difficult, but respectful and transformative dialog we need to have with one another. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in the threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity.
<need information here> Registration is open through the Nebraska Diocese.
Christmas Pageant
Each year the Sunday School classes practice and present a Christmas Pageant. Everyone has a chance to participate, and parents, family, and friends can sing along too.
Blessing of the Backpacks
At the end of each summer, students, teachers, paraprofessionals, and anyone who helps educate and care for youth gather at the altar for a special blessing as we invoke God’s care and the Holy Spirit’s guidance for the year ahead.
Youth Sunday
Youth are involved in all aspects of our worship every Sunday of the year, but one Sunday in May they fill all of the roles possible. One of the graduating seniors is selected to deliver the sermon.
Youth Mission Trip
Each year the Youth Group takes a summer mission trip that incorporates creation care of our gardens and campus spaces, a service project, worship, and fun.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer, our Vacation Bible School is a fun, informative adventure for children and teens ages 3-16. Held in the evening, we start with a meal together. Stay tuned for our plans for Summer, 2025.
